The Elusive Values of Eleuthera

The annual St Marks Fair in Hatchet Bay will be held at Bay Fest Park on Friday December 4th and Saturday December 5th.

There’ll be lots going on on Saturday from 8am until midnight.

We’re sure many of you have stopped by at the Gateway Service Station in Hatchet Bay to fill up your gas tanks.

What you may not know, though, is the wide array of items they carry in the compact store that is also on-site.

Believe it or not, you can find things like:

• car batteries
• plumbing supplies
• snacks,
• cold drinks
• some grocery items

So, next time you’re filling up, pop into the store as well.

If you’re lucky, you’ll be greeted by owner McClain Pinder with his always upbeat attitude and a welcoming handshake. If he’s not there, his staff continues the cheerful feeling.

Gateway Service Station hours are:

• Monday to Saturday – 7:00 am to 9:00 pm
• Sunday – 7:00 am to 10:00 am and 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm

This week the Eleutheran reported that the Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation (BAIC) wants to see Hatchet Bay, Eleuthera developed as a bread basket community like it used to be.
